Blue Ridge Speech and Hearing Center is a non-profit organization that has been providing speech and hearing services to the residents of Loudoun County since 1964. The mission is to help people of all ages reach their fullest communication potential. The Center’s fundraising efforts through events, grants and donations have allowed patients who would not be able to afford what they medically need to receive appropriate intervention. In 2006-2007, 9995 services were provided including community outreach to senior centers in Leesburg, Purcellville and Cascades, as well as regional health fairs and nursing homes. The mother of a young boy with Down’s Syndrome and a history of hearing problems wrote a note to staff saying, “thank you so much for making it possible for our son to get his hearing aid. His life has changed and he is smiling and interacting with family and friends. His ability to hear and speak has made a difference in his life and ours. Your generous help and kindness will not be forgotten.”
