LARC’s mission is to advocate for children and adults with disabilities by promoting individual support and equitable participation with their non-disabled peers in all aspects of community life, including education, residence, vocation, and health care.  LARC provides case management and representative payee services, individual and family support programs, direct advocacy assistance, training and workshops on disability related issues, information, referrals, and respite assistance.  In addition LARCoperates The Aurora School for children with autism.

A family of four, all of whom have disabilities, contacted LARC. They were about to become homeless in less than 30 days. LARC assisted them in finding affordable housing, pulling in other community supports, enrolling the children in school, and in the development of the children’s special education plans. “You were very helpful in providing me with information recently. I just want you to know how grateful I am to you for your support! Thank you again, for pointing me in the right direction.” -A mother who recently received help from LARC

$10 Provides Transportation for a Person with a Disability: A gift of $10 will help offset the cost of gasoline needed to transport a person with a disability, who does not drive, to necessary appointments for him/herself or his/her children.

$25 Serves Three Callers in Crisis: A gift of $25 will allow us to serve three callers, for example: a single parent with a disability and his/her children seeking assistance, a parent with a child with autism seeking resources and support groups, a young adult with brain injury seeking additional food and help with utility bills.

$50 Serves a Person with a Disability: A gift of $50 will allow us to provide direct advocacy support services for a low-income person with a disability (i.e. attending school meetings, court hearings, emergency services and benefits appointments).

Any Amount: All agencies have overhead costs including rent, utilities, audit expenses, fundraising costs, etc. These are frequently the most difficult funds to raise. Your gift in any amount for general operating support will help keep our organization strong and allow us to serve even more Loudoun County residents.
