Loudoun Cares Information & Referral (I&R) Help Line compassionately and efficiently links Loudoun residents in need with the agencies and programs that can best serve them. I&R call specialists also assist low-income callers in finding alternative funds for basic needs (i.e., rent, utilities and medical assistance). The Help Line is available from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday and a bi-lingual call specialist is available from 9am-2pm daily.

A caller living on a fixed income of less than $650 per month consistently ran out of food at the end of the month.  Because he lives alone and has medical conditions, he felt that his phone was a necessity. However, it was the basic but expensive phone bill that was causing him to run out of money each month. The I&R Help Line was able to connect  him with a food bank to help in the short term and with a program at the telephone company that provides phone service at greatly reduced rates.

$10 One Help Line Question Answered– a gift of $10 allows Loudoun Cares to assist one uninsured Help Line caller with a question about where to go for medical and dental care for his children.

$25 Three Help Line Questions Answered— a gift of $25 allows Loudoun Cares to assist three Help Line callers; examples of calls include a son, living out of state, seeking information about services for his elderly parents in Loudoun County; a grandmother seeking information on substance abuse rehabilitation facilities for her teenaged grandson, and a disabled veteran visiting the area seeking help to repair a broken wheelchair.

$50 Six Help Line Questions Answered - a gift of $50.00 allows Loudoun Cares to identify programs for six Loudoun residents facing utility cutoffs, needing prescription medication assistance, looking for a homeless shelter, seeking to improve reading skills in preparation for the GED, or looking for a place to donate clothing and household items.

Any Amount: All agencies have overhead costs including rent, utilities, audit expenses, fundraising costs, etc. These are frequently the most difficult funds to raise. Your gift in any amount for general operating support will help keep our organization strong and allow us to serve even more Loudoun County residents.
