The Loudoun Community Free Clinic enables many Loudoun residents to obtain desperately needed health care, which might otherwise be unavailable to them. Our mission is to keep Loudoun healthy, save lives and put a smile on the face of those in need. The Loudoun Community Free Clinic (LCFC) is a private non-profit organization dedicated to serving the uninsured community by providing free quality health care services for the low-income residents of Loudoun County. We see patients up to age 65 that have an annual income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Free Clinic patients receive free quality health care services delivered by volunteer physicians, nurses, staff and others in our community who give freely of their time and talents. The Free Clinic not only provides patients with free care for acute and chronic illnesses but also provides all types of free prescriptions, laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging. For every $1.00 donated, Loudoun Community Free Clinic is able to deliver nearly $5.00 in health care services. Susan G. is a single Mom who suffers with Type 2 diabetes. Despite working full time she still doesn’t have health insurance. On her salary, she can’t afford what her employer offers. “It’s either buy the insurance, or eat and put a roof over my head”. Susan needs insulin everyday because her body is unable to produce enough on its own. She is a high-risk candidate for stroke and heart disease and suffers from hypertension and asthma. If the clinic weren’t there to help, she would not be able to get her insulin. Susan visits the Diabetic Clinic monthly to get a check-up and refill her prescriptions. “They’re real warm and friendly,” Susan says, “They don’t see you like you’re less fortunate. The free clinic keeps me alive.” |
