Loudoun Families for Children is a non-profit organization that provides emergency and respite care, as well as mentoring to children in need.  The organization relies solely on trained volunteers and families to provide all services.  Emergency care providers take in children for a short period when a child can not safely remain in his or her own home.  Respite care volunteers may provide services during a particularly stressful time and mentors work with children that can benefit from a consistent, on-going relationship.

The majority of referrals to LFC come from the Loudoun County Department of Family Service’s Child Protective Services Unit.  Referrals are made for a variety of reasons: from homelessness, substance abuse, or mental health issues that affect a parent’s ability to properly care for their children to allegations of abuse or neglect.  Whatever the situation, LFC provides a safe and caring environment to these vulnerable children.

$10 Buys essential items for a child in emergency care: A gift of $10 will allow LFC to provide items such as clothing, diapers, formula, or personal items to a child that enters the program on an emergency basis.

$25 Provides supplies for disadvantaged children: A gift of $25 will allow LFC to provide gift cards for the holidays, and school supplies in the fall to children that participate in the respite care or mentor program.

$50 Enriches a mentored child’s life: A gift of $50 will help provide financial assistance to a child for summer camp, social/recreational enrichment activities, or tutoring.

Any amount: All agencies have overhead costs including rent, utilities, audit expenses, fundraising costs, etc. These are frequently the most difficult funds to raise. Your gift in any amount for general operating support will help keep our organization strong and allow us to serve even more Loudoun County residents.
