Children's Ministry at Saint Gabriel's

At Saint Gabriel’s all our  children are cherished members of the Body of Christ. We take seriously the promise we make during the service of Holy Baptism to do all in our power to support our children in their life in Christ.

Our KidZone Kids provide us with beautiful music!! Just hear those angelic voices, under the able guidance of our Music Team leader, John Schroeder!

Worship

Children are always welcome in worship. We provide Children’s Bulletins, Children’s Activities, various books, and our informative brochure called “Worshipping with Children.” These items are available at the information table near the entrance. A “crying area” is available in the hallway just outside the worship space for parents who feel the need to remove young children from worship. Here, you may comfort your child and still hear the service.

There is a professionally-staffed nursery available for infants through age 3 from 10:00 to 12:00.

The St. Gabe's kids learn about faith in their own settings.

Children ages 4 through 4th grade spend the first part of our Sunday service in KidZone. The children experience the Episcopal liturgy and an interactive homily based on the principles of Jerome Berryman’s Godly Play and Children in Worship. Here, the children learn the art of using religious liturgy, sacred story, prayer, and praise through music, to help them truly experience the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.

They also have Sunday School, using age-appropriate curricula, that teach them Bible stories, the seasons of the church year,  and how we treat each other in Christian Community. Activities address the different learning styles of different children: visual/spatial, kinesthetic, verbal/linguistic, logical/mathematical, and musical. Workshops include art, drama, video, computer, historical re-enactment, dance, cooking, and science, and music. All enrich the children's experience at Saint gabriel's and reinforce the notion that they are beloved members of the community.

Tweens participate in our Middle School Christian Ed program, which provides teaching, fun activities and opportunities for service to the community locally and on short-term mission trips.

Adult Support

There are many ways adults can assist and support our children’s ministries. We can use shepherds and leaders for our Liturgy of the Word and KidZone. For those who believe they are too inexperienced to lead children, we offer an “apprenticeship,” where you can follow a mentor and learn at your own pace how to successfully implement our program. We can also use seamstresses and woodworkers to help us assemble the materials necessary for our children’s activities. Of course, we can always use your prayers for our children and our leaders.
