We will be thinking about the sermon as a conversation starter and asking "Where is the lively intersection between today's passage from Acts and my/our experience?" We will meet in Chorus Room 2 after the service and coffee.
Pastoral Care: Pastor Shearon will be away Tuesday, May 4th through Friday, May 7th. In the event of a pastoral need, please contact the Rev. COMMUNITY INFORMATION/ VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
OUTREACH PROJECTS UPDATE First thanks to everyone who sewed, knitted, purchased and donated to all our Lenten Projects, you are the people who show the world St. Gabriel's is Christ's hands at work. We have given 22 hats and 2 wraps to the Hats and Wraps project at Leesburg hospital as well as 7 hats to Hats of Hope at Loudoun Hospital. We have given one quilt to the pediatric unit and 2 wheel chair blankets to the Leesburg hospital and 2 wheelchair blankets are ready to go to Walter Reed. We also have 10 bags almost ready for the emergency foster placement department of Loudoun DFS. While our projects started as service projects for Lent they all cover ongoing needs. Both hospitals need hats for their oncology patients; both appreciate the lift that a cheerful lap blanket can give their wheelchair patients and both caregivers and children alike appreciate quilts for the pediatric unit so if you sew, knit, crochet, weave or just want to donate something to a worthwhile cause this certainly covers all the bases. We committed to putting together 10 overnight bags for children who have to be placed in a foster home in a hurry and hopefully we can meet that commitment by the end of this week. People have been VERY generous but we still need sleepwear for the older children, PJ's can be expensive but for the warmer months T shirts and appropriate boxers work just fine. Can you help? If you have questions call Sue Hands-Renwick 703-729-9693 or email at suehr@msn.com
In the Gospel of Matthew, (Matt 25:35) Jesus reminds us that life in Him means that we are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit the sick. You can do your part by being available to provide a meal to those who are ill or to provide a ride to those who cannot drive, or to run an errand for someone who is homebound. If you would like to offer your services to do any of these things, the LifeCare team would welcome your help. You would become part of an email list. The coordinators would contact those on the email list when a need arises. You would have the option of saying if you could help out or not, and when. Please email Anne Denzin at sewcreativeva@gmail.comm and offer your help.
H1N1 VACCINATION- If you still need to get your H1N1 Vaccination, the Health Department will be providing free shots at the Dulles Town Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm-7pm. Or you can go to the Leesburg Clinic at 102 Heritage Way, Monday thru Fridays from 9am-4pm.
VOLUNTEERS OPPORTUNITIES: ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE-RUST LIBRARY LOCATION-Volunteers participate in a small group, leading and encouraging general conversation in English. This is not a teaching exercise instead it is an opportunity for the participants to practice conversational English. (Monday thru Friday, mornings, afternoon & evening hours needed. Must be 18 or over). Contact Jack Frear at 703-777-0369 or Jack.Frear@loudoun.gov .
YOUTH VOLUNTEERS-ADOPT-A-GRANDPARENT, SUNRISE ASSISTED LIVING, LEESBURG-Volunteers are asked to spend one hour a week for one year with their "adopted grandma or grandpa" so as to build a close and meaningful relationship. Volunteers also need to acknowledge major holidays in some way. (Sundays thru Saturdays, morning, afternoon & evening, hours needed. Must be willing to commit to 1 hour per week per year. Age Minimum: Under18) Contact #: 703-777-1971.
CHURCH NEEDS
THE HOSPITALITY MINISTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP- If you can help by providing hospitality on Sundays in the coming weeks, please sign-up on the sheet on the Information Table. It is such an easy thing to do, and is a wonderful way to welcome old friends and guests every Sunday. Best of all, you'll get first crack at the goodies!
CAN YOU COUNT? -Of course you can! That's why we're looking for a few good counters like you to serve as tellers. Tellers count up the donations in the offering basket on Sundays and fill out the deposit form. It quick and easy, but is so important to the smooth running of St. Gabriel's. Please consider volunteering for this; contact Jodi Moore at jandrmoore@yahoo.com <mailto:jandrmoore@yahoo.com>.
HELPING HAITI -You may be surprised to know that the Episcopal Church has a significant presence in Haiti, and Diocese of Virginia missioner The Rev. Lauren Stanley serves there. The terrible earthquake has caused death and destruction in that troubled but beautiful place. Your prayers are of paramount importance! Please also consider helping in relief efforts by donating to Episcopal Relief and Development. Their online giving page is <https://www.er-d.org/GiveNow/> . The need is great. As the Diocese of Virginia formulates a plan for further aid to Haiti, we will keep you informed.

Ingredients: filtered water, sweet rice flour, potato flour, organic palm fruit oil, potato starch, methylcellulose, sunflower lecithin. If you would prefer to receive these wafers rather than the regular wheat wafers, please email Pastor Shearon at Shearon.Williams@comcast.net.; we will make sure that they are consecrated and available.
OUR LIFE CARE TEAM provides most of the ongoing support that you may need during many
life events. Peg Coleman maintains our published and confidential prayer lists. Please send your prayer and thanksgiving requests to Peg at: prayer@saintgabriels.net. Anne Denzin is now responsible for gathering information and following up on the effectiveness of support; call Anne at (703) 858-5841 if you need care or assistance. Some of the needs that the Life Care team is able to provide include hospital visiting, home communion and delivered meals.
Looking ahead to Confirmation- We will be blessed by a visit from Bishop Ted Gulick, on November 14, 2010, who is assisting Bishop Shannon and Bishop Jones in making these Episcopal visits. If you are interested (or if your child is interested) in being confirmed at that time, or if you have been confirmed already in other denomination but would like to be formally received into the Episcopal Church, please talk to Pastor Shearon. We will plan ahead for Confirmation preparation classes and it would be helpful to know how many people would like to do this.
Baptisms - Can be scheduled on most Sundays of the church year, but are particularly appropriate on certain feast days. Thus, we usually celebrate baptisms on Baptism of our Lord (or following Sundays in Epiphany), Easter (1st Sunday following), Pentecost and All Saints Sunday. The bishop will be visiting on November14th, 2010 and baptism or confirmation can be scheduled for that date. If you are interested in being baptized, or having a child be baptized, please call the church office.
