Out of Order, Back in Action

And the Winner Is... Carpet in the Parish Hall was removed this week, preparing the way for new flooring — and the congregation got to vote on it this past Sunday! The winner: #4, the darker wood tone. We can't wait to see it installed.
The Verdict Is In After a couple of heavy storms rolled through this week, we can now say definitively that the leak in the undercroft was caused by the failed drainage system and the dead sump pump. Next week, we'll get moving on the permanent solutions for both.
Clearing Out for Clean Air We sorted through all the items from the areas affected by mold this week, setting aside and discarding anything that had been compromised. Mold remediation is scheduled to begin next week.
AC Vendor Selected We've chosen a vendor to replace the failed AC system in the Parish Hall. Work is set to begin late next week!
A Golden Girls Moment While cleaning this week, we discovered a new problem: water shooting out the side of a toilet in the ladies' room every time it was flushed. Not even a joke — it was straight out of that Golden Girls episode where the plumbing goes haywire. To be fair, that stall had been marked "out of order" for two years. 'Tis the season for uncovering things that have been out of order, so we can finally fix them!
Steps Toward Accessibility Discussions began this week on making the church handicapped accessible — something that matters deeply to us. In the coming weeks, we'll meet with vendors who may be able to help make that a reality.
The Neighborhood Is Noticing And finally — people are starting to notice! We heard from three people this week who live or work in Aldie, each one excited to see life returning to the campus.
